Different From Other Reference Texts But Okay

I'm a retired EE hobbyist, now interested in 3D printing. I learned that Autodesk offered free use of Fusion 360 for hobbyists and some others so I tried it. I had been using other free and paid-for programs. Fusion is indeed a powerful program and I fully expected a learning curve. Initially, when I got "stuck", I referred to online tutorials and online info. Not unexpectedly, I found that some of the material was "dated". That is, it was for previous versions. Also, I found that "some steps were left out". That is, the author must have assumed a certain level of familiarity so didn't show every step. Videos from Autodesk seemed "skimpy".
I got tired of stopping a design, simple as it was, to go search the internet. As with other hobbies and interests, I searched for a referenced book. I never intended to read the book cover-to-cover. There don't seem to be THAT many Fusion reference books out there. This book was "recent", but I read some scathing reviews. Should I order or not?
I decided that I didn't want to spend what remains of my life trying to learn Fusion. It was worth taking a chance by ordering this. It IS different from all other reference books I have every purchased:
There isn't any index in the back!! As a reference, I would have preferred going to the index and then back to the chapter of interest. Of course, you can start at the front of the book and thumb through each chapter hoping to find what you're looking for.
I DID look at all of the videos even though I would never use some of Fusion's features. They are short so you probably won't fall asleep before they finish. They seem to track almost identically with the printed material in the book and on the video site. I don't know why you are limited to just one year of viewing. I really didn't think the videos added much but then some learn more by watching and being told rather than just reading a book.
Based upon limited use, I did find that the examples DID provide all of the steps needed to complete an example. You can download files for the examples so that you don't have to enter all of the date to get ready to do the example. I didn't do any of the practice problems since I was not interested in being "certified" as a Fusion user.
So, maybe this book is not like what I was used to or expecting. But, it has helped me several times already. Due to the lack of other reference books and that this book is at least somewhat useful, I would recommend it.

Although the book contains a lot of material it is badly organised as a stand alone text. There is no index and
so it is very hard to get specific information.

Exactly the book I needed!

This would have been a huge help when I first tried learning Fusion 360 with the tutorials on Autodesk's website. Problems with going back and forth between that website and Fusion 360 were frustrating to the point where I gave up early on. A good book was what was needed.
And here it is. Watching the videos are more or less like attending a class, after which one brings the textbook home and does the homework. I have NO need to have access to the videos while Fusion 360 is open - everything I need to see again is in the book. VERY glad I bought it.
After you order the book and get your "Shipping Confirmation" email from Amazon, forward that email to the "courseware..." address that you can find in the book preview above, book page "xvii" - then you'll get the video lesson access before the book arrives. I've had NO problems with support from ASCENT.
