I Want More Pizza is an informative, yet easy-to-read book that introduces and simplifies real-world personal finance to teens and young adults.

The book is compact and visually pleasing - NOT a cumbersome read - but it's PACKED with useful information. It's written in a friendly tone, as if the author is having an upbeat and casual conversation with the reader on topics such as; why you should begin saving sooner rather than later, understanding mental blocks, smart ways to save, investing options, determining risk, the dangers of debt, credit vs. debit cards, compound growth, paying for college, etc.

This book breaks down personal finance for teens and explains how "time is their biggest asset" regarding saving and investing in their future. The sooner we understand these options, the better equipped we are to make sound financial decisions.

There are a handful of review questions at the end of each chapter to help reinforce the concepts.

Overall, this is a very useful tool for young adults. I plan on buying more to give as graduation gifts.

I've seen this book criticized because some of the facts, which could easily be checked were wrong. Possibly the person who made this comment did not know that the "Good Doctor" wrote on a manual typewriter (sometimes even at the beach) and didn't have a SMART PHONE to check his facts with. You might as well criticize Shakespeare for not using a "spell checker". I include the copyright date for a reason, folks.

This is a book that I'm giving to a rising 9th grader and suggesting that he read it every five years, When he can understand half ot it I'll consider him an informed man in the Physical Sciences.

Donald Lam returned from the South Seas, he had suffered from a tropical disease. The meeting has some sly humor. Miss Georgia Rushe entered the office for help. She had been friendly with her boss Ellery Crail, then went on vacation. When she returned her boss suddenly got married! Mr. Crail had hit Irma Begley's car, and an offer to repair her car and pay her bills soon led to a quick marriage. Georgia wants Cool & Lam to investigate Irma and the Rendezvous business she wants Ellery to buy (Chapter 1). Lam discovers Irma had been in an earlier accident (Chapter 2). Chapter 3 tells about the Rendezvous clubs that operated in the afternoon. Lam is recognized and told to leave. Lam interviews the other man who was sued by Irma Begley, and meets someone from the Rimley Rendezvous. Billy Prue has information, and explains it to Lam. But when she returns to her apartment she finds a dead body (Chapter 5).

The police arrive to take their statements (Chapter 7). Bertha Cool was traced from her earlier accident (while investigating). Lam learns about the dead man's nephew (Chapter 8) and his relationship with Billy Prue. Lam gets a surprising telephone call after the murder weapon is found (Chapter 9). Who could have planted it? Could a clock be changed to create an alibi? Billy Prue tells Lam about Stanberry's racket (Chapter 10). Chapter 12 explains how multiple parties can be held liable for one accident. But one party can make a deal with the plaintiff. Is there a reason why this case should be settled out of court? Can a person be sued to sway their testimony (Chapter 13)? Or to influence a witness? The testimony about the accident sounds like a real court case (Chapter 14). [This is a lesson in testifying about an auto accident when unprepared. If you are ever in an accident write down all the details as soon as possible. Lawyers earn a living by analyzing testimony and making opposing witnesses sound stupid.]

There is a surprise when the lawyers want to settle out of court (Chapter 15). Miss Rushe had a change of mind. [There is more humor in this chapter.] As part of the settlement Lam gets the names of the witnesses and the license numbers of every car that was there. Lam reviews the notes and finds a surprise that leads to a solution of the conflict (Chapter 16). Lam figures out why the handle of that ax was sawn through (Chapter 17). Detective Frank Sellers arrives to conclude the story; the ending is a surprise (Chapter 18). The last chapter ties up the loose ends. [I found the ending to be sort of tacked-on]. Did the famous Fall River murders inspire the method of hiding the ax?

Donald Lam returned from the South Seas, he had suffered from a tropical disease. The meeting has some sly humor. Miss Georgia Rushe entered the office for help. She had been friendly with her boss Ellery Crail, then went on vacation. When she returned her boss suddenly got married! Mr. Crail had hit Irma Begley's car, and an offer to repair her car and pay her bills soon led to a quick marriage. Georgia wants Cool & Lam to investigate Irma and the Rendezvous business she wants Ellery to buy (Chapter 1). Lam discovers Irma had been in an earlier accident (Chapter 2). Chapter 3 tells about the Rendezvous clubs that operated in the afternoon. Lam is recognized and told to leave. Lam interviews the other man who was sued by Irma Begley, and meets someone from the Rimley Rendezvous. Billy Prue has information, and explains it to Lam. But when she returns to her apartment she finds a dead body (Chapter 5).

The police arrive to take their statements (Chapter 7). Bertha Cool was traced from her earlier accident (while investigating). Lam learns about the dead man's nephew (Chapter 8) and his relationship with Billy Prue. Lam gets a surprising telephone call after the murder weapon is found (Chapter 9). Who could have planted it? Could a clock be changed to create an alibi? Billy Prue tells Lam about Stanberry's racket (Chapter 10). Chapter 12 explains how multiple parties can be held liable for one accident. But one party can make a deal with the plaintiff. Is there a reason why this case should be settled out of court? Can a person be sued to sway their testimony (Chapter 13)? Or to influence a witness? The testimony about the accident sounds like a real court case (Chapter 14). [This is a lesson in testifying about an auto accident when unprepared. If you are ever in an accident write down all the details as soon as possible. Lawyers earn a living by analyzing testimony and making opposing witnesses sound stupid.]

There is a surprise when the lawyers want to settle out of court (Chapter 15). Miss Rushe had a change of mind. [There is more humor in this chapter.] As part of the settlement Lam gets the names of the witnesses and the license numbers of every car that was there. Lam reviews the notes and finds a surprise that leads to a solution of the conflict (Chapter 16). Lam figures out why the handle of that ax was sawn through (Chapter 17). Detective Frank Sellers arrives to conclude the story; the ending is a surprise (Chapter 18). The last chapter ties up the loose ends. [I found the ending to be sort of tacked-on]. Did the famous Fall River murders inspire the method of hiding the ax?

About the Author
"Sandy Pfeiffer" has spent a career in technical and professional writing. With a Ph.D. in English, he is vice president for academic affairs and a professor of English at Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, Georgia. His home department offers both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Technical and Professional Communication, as well as a B. A. in International Technical Communications.

Besides the "Pocket Guide," Pfeiffer has written "Technical Writing: A Practical Approach," now in its 5th edition (Prentice Hall, 2003). The book is used in colleges and universities around the country. He also wrote "Proposal Writing: The Art of Friendly Persuasion" (Merrily 1989); coauthored, with Chuck Keller, "Proposal Writing: The Act of Friendly and Winning Persuasion" (Prentice Hall, 2000); and wrote "Pocket Guide to Public Speaking" (Prentice Hall, 2002).

Since 1979, Pfeiffer has taught communication seminars to business, industry, and government groups in the United States and overseas. Sample seminar topics include Report Writing, Proposals, Oral Presentations, Effective Meetings, and Technical Editing.

This text chosen by the professor for my Technical Writing course is a new edition and sold on Amazon for less than half the price the College Bookstoore wanted. It was an excellent surprise that it was very well written and I expect will be a valuable reference for me in years to come.

Good textbook

The seller was great and this book is definitely helpful and easy to read. The author makes the information simple and clear. Good examples of different writing styles are presented. Even as a used copy, the book seems to hold up well. If your instructor allows you to use a later edition of the book, you should be able to follow with this edition easily.

This book is very detailed and thorough, I can't say anything really bad about this book other than it was a bit too wordy and could have been shorter and a bit more concise. It is, however a text book so... what do you expect.

A polished gem

I bought this book six years ago and have kept it within reach ever since. Open it up at a random page and you will find a gem of an essay on Babylonian astronomy, mummification techniques, the first etnographer, or urban planning in ancient Greece. Sarton has managed to compress more than thirty centuries of scientific history in 600 pages without becoming superficial. He starts with the Babylonians and ends with the ancient Greeks. Nothing is omitted. You will read about astronomy, astrology, biology, mathematics, literature, history, crafts, technical achievements, etnography, trade and economics, mining, government organization, law, medicine, animal husbandry, and - of course - philosophy.
George Sarton writes balanced, with authority and clarity, but first and foremost with great love for his subject. His view is balanced and spiced with an enormous number of delightful details. Did you know that the first Greek colonists brought an urban planner with them? Or that citizens of Athens received a tax credit in 473BC because of a windfall in mining revenues? The Egyptian scientist who got it wrong but asked the right question will have Sarton's sympathy. The Greek philosopher who made his name by reycling ideas stolen from the Babylonians is condemned.
I should stop writing before I get carried away. Let me say one more thing: it is truly astonishing that this book has not become an instant bestseller.

Read this in 1973 preparing for exams. admired it then. Reading it now at leisure and mainly for myself, i am astonished. This, in addition to an all but unimaginable breadth of research and scope of coverage, is a monument of a kind of humanistic learning now passing away. Everyone would profit from the introduction and a chapter or two. S. wrote with great honesty and sympathy. Rather than list matters about which Aristotle was wrong or where he has been superseded (news flash!) S. shows what he accomplished, e.g. This great work of humane erudition places us on a scientific journey rather than atop a ladder of outmoded theory, erroneous facts, superstition, and the like.
this could be required learning for the entire world.

This is a great book for an overall summary of ancient science and philosophy up until the 3rd century BCE.

Reading word by word can be very tedious, so I picked up this book to learn some tricks on how to grasp the gist of sentences in paragraphs very quickly. Herein, there are tips on how to concentrate, pick up the pace and focus on certain words to get the meaning within a short period of time. Now, at least i don't have to reread just to capture the essence of what's worded in paragraphs.

This book presents a few techniques that can help with increasing the pace of reading just as it promises. However, it emphasizes the importance of practicing these techniques, in other words you have to do your part obviously! So if you're looking for a magic bullet do not purchase this book.

I think the book does not successfully explain all the methods of speed reading and the necessary tips one can utilize to enhance their performance. The author needs to understand the need of the readers and provide some helpful content with powerful tips to use.

A Future So Bright...

This book encompasses the whole of a relationship that at first looks destined to fail. Coco is a 17 year old girl who ran away from home with a fake ID and started stripping in a club owned by Sam. There she quickly grows into the incredible force of nature she is destined to be. She doesn't even meet Sam until the fateful night her career as a stripper is destined to end.

Coco is definitely a character. She thinks for herself and plans her own life. She's way smarter than anyone would ever guess especially with her looks. She decides what she is doing always on her own terms. At her core she is a loving and generous person who looks out for her friends and family and refuses to let the world change her.

Sam is a mystery. Both a mobster and a legitimate business man he hides many secrets. Especially from Coco as he wants to keep her safe and untainted by his darker dealings. Coco is his world and gods help anyone who threatens her in the least! He is a man of his word. An old school man of honor that no one wishes to cross.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster ride of ups and downs... It kept me guessing along with Coco up until the very end. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to any mystery fans out there who like a love story that is the central theme. I truly adored this book and will definitely be reading more by this amazing author! I love the way he paints an entire world so that you feel you are right there with the characters the whole time!

Thrilling mystery with a rags to riches romance. Guaranteed to keep you up all night.

Seventeen year old Coco Stevens is not at all happy. She runs away to an unforeseen future. Starting out as dancer at "Dante's Gentlemans Club" Coco thinks she's doing all right for herself. Unfortunate, a sting operation closes the club temporarily, and Coco loses her job. She has no other choice, but to return home, and start life over again.
A new beginning for Coco is soon to arrive in a limo. Her ex-boss Sam, would like to see her. An amazing adventure is starting. Coco will become rich, secure, confident and travel the world. She will also suffer loneliness, betrayal, and plot her revenge against the love of her life.

An absolute fascinating story. It takes you from the heartfelt despair to wanting to be Coco Stevens. It will take you through a full array of emotions...love and hating the characters in turn. You will have no other choice than to keep turning the pages to find where the story will go next. Highly recommended 5/5

ONE NIGHT HAD BEEN ENOUGH

I received a print copy of this book as a giveaway on GoodReads.com in return for my honest opinion for the book.

From the inviting title I entered the giveaway to win one of the 100 copies being offered. When I received my copy I didn’t really care its relatively small pocket trim size, as compared to the trim sizes I usually receive. The trim size made it somewhat less comfortable to read.

The premise for the storyline is also something which caught my eye; a young runaway, underage girl, Coco gets a job in a strip club run by a Mafia-type Don, she then gets a job as a model followed by that of an actress. Coco seems to be too prefect at times, probably due to the male POV the book seems to have been written in. While the storyline takes a few twists and the foreign locations are quite vivid in their descriptions, the book as a whole didn’t really do anything to arouse my interest in the book.

I find it interesting the book, in its paperback format or the hardcover edition, are apparently no longer available. I also found it interesting the copy of the book I’d received had been printed in India.

In the end, the best I can give this book is only 3 STARS.
